John Worcester serves as the Appalachian Judicial Circuit’s Chief Juvenile Court Judge, a position he has held since September, 2004.

Prior to assuming his current position, he served the Appalachian Judicial Circuit in various capacities. He spent several years as an Associate Juvenile Court Judge, and represented area parents and children as a Juvenile Court’s public defender.

Judge Worcester is a resident of Pickens County and practiced law with the Law Offices of Edwin Marger, LLC in Jasper for eleven years.

He is committed to the implementation of problem solving courts in the Appalachian Judicial Circuit and currently oversees a family drug court, a juvenile drug court, a truancy court and a mental health court through the Juvenile Court. Additionally, he works with the Circuit’s three Superior Court Judges in overseeing a Child Support Court and a Domestic Violence Court.

Judge Worcester received a B.A. degree in Sociology and a Master of Science degree in Counseling and Guidance. He subsequently attended law school and received his J.D. degree and his L.L.M. degree in Litigation
